Spearheaded and owned Lawn Care company of a firefighter

Introduction

To Introduce myself, my name is Payton Merle. I can’t call myself a seasoned firefighter because I am newer in the career, but I have found myself to have a passion for nature and am drawn to landscaping during my off-duty hours. What began as a hobby—tending to my own & my grandparents’ properties and helping friends with their gardens—soon evolved into a business idea. With my savings and the generosity of family & friends loaning me equipment, I started building this company piece by piece. Balancing my firefighting shifts with landscaping projects comes with ease and is very rewarding. I find my meticulous attention to detail and the discipline instilled by firefighting translates seamlessly into yard work. My reputation for reliability and high-quality work seems to be spreading quickly, attracting a steady stream of clients who happen to admire my dedication and punctuality. As my business grows, I aspire to expand my team, hiring individuals who share my passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces and helping other firefighters find passion in this career. Combining the adrenaline rush of firefighting with the creative satisfaction of landscaping, I find a fulfilling balance in my dual careers. Reflecting on this now, I realize that starting the landscaping business has not only provided me with a thriving career but also a deeper connection to my community through both emergency response and enhancing the natural beauty of people’s homes.
